Brown chicken pieces‚ then remove and drain to ensure they don't get soggy when added to honey garlic sauce․ Honey garlic chicken noodles recipe includes sesame soy noodles and coleslaw with browned chicken pieces․ Each serving contains 34 grams of protein․

Coleslaw mix is sautéed in olive oil and drained to crisp at the bottom of the noodle dish․ Ground chicken breast is cooked in the same pan and mixed with honey‚ chili garlic sauce‚ coconut aminos‚ Chinese black vinegar‚ ginger‚ and water․ Seasoned sauce packets for the noodles are mixed into cooked instant noodles along with the chicken and coleslaw mix․ A little salt is added to the coleslaw mix during sautéing․
The sauce is ready when most of the liquid has cooked off and caramelized on the bottom of the pan and there are chicken pieces in the sauce with no liquid pooling on the bottom of the pan․ If the sauce is not caramelized‚ you are likely stirring too much․ Let the chicken sit in the pan between stirs․ Cook pasta separately and add some of the pasta cooking liquid to the sauce and chicken as needed when combining the two to avoid extra liquid․
Garnish with chopped chives or green onions and sesame seeds․ To serve this dish without vegetables‚ set aside some honey garlic chicken and sauced noodles before mixing the slaw․ Other ways to serve this chicken and slaw dish include over rice or in lettuce or wonton cups․ Add toppings just before serving․

Why you'll love this recipe
- Browning the chicken in larger pieces and crumbling it provides additional color to the casserole and texture contrast to the pasta in the sauce․
- Sautéing the honey and garlic with the chicken produces a thick coating that coats the chicken instead of a thin sauce in the pan․
- Cooking the slaw separately results in a browned layer on the bottom of the slaw and a tender-crisp layer․ The mix of cooked and tender-crisp slaw has a distinct texture․
- The noodles cook with the chicken sauce at roughly the same rate for a total cooking time of about 20 minutes for the entire meal․
- Leftover noodle cooking water can be used as an ingredient to unite a chicken and coleslaw noodle dish without adding more sauce or making the bowl heavy․
- Multiple types of instant noodles could be used in place of the mentioned noodles․ Honey garlic chicken and crisped slaw are the main flavors of this recipe․
Ingredients
- •4 cups coleslaw mix (170g)
- •2 tsp olive oil (10g)
- •1 lb ground chicken breast
- •3 Tbsp honey (63g)
- •2 Tbsp chili garlic sauce (30g; or Sriracha)
- •2 Tbsp coconut aminos (30g; or low-sodium soy sauce)
- •2 Tbsp Chinese black vinegar (30g; or balsamic vinegar)
- •2 cubes frozen crushed ginger cubes (or 2 tsp freshly crushed ginger)

- •salt (a pinch)
- •chives or scallions (sliced, for serving)
- •toasted sesame seeds (for serving)
Instructions
- 1
Bring a pot of water to a boil for the noodles.
- 2
Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large nonstick pan over medium heat.
- 3
Add the coleslaw mix to the hot oil, stir to coat, and season with a pinch of salt.
- 4
Cook the slaw until the vegetables start to brown on the bottom but remain tender-crisp, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- 5
Transfer the slaw to a bowl and set aside.
- 6
Add the ground chicken to the same pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- 7
Break the chicken apart with a spatula and continue cooking until fully cooked.
- 8
Add the honey, chili garlic sauce, coconut aminos, vinegar, ginger, and water to the cooked chicken.
- 9
Stir to combine and cook until the liquid is fully reduced and starts caramelizing on the bottom, about 3 to 4 minutes longer. Avoid over-stirring so the chicken can brown.
- 10
Start cooking the noodles in the boiling water while the sauce reduces.
- 11
Once the noodles are cooked, reserve about 1/2 cup of the cooking water and drain the rest.
- 12
Add the noodle sauce packets, crispy ground chicken, and slaw mix to the pot with the noodles.
- 13
Use the reserved noodle water as needed to bring everything together.
- 14
Garnish with sliced green onion or chives and toasted sesame seeds.
